Many of us cared about our careers and faced sacrifices. Brad said clearly he did not agree with the shots, he would not concede that they were safe or effective, he stated that multiple times and it is why he resigned. To prove treason there needs to be an investigation and evidence which many have been working on despite those coming against them. The bait and switch with the EUA was also a heavy investigation that took multiple people collecting screenshots and evidence to disseminate amongst the troops who were working to try and resist this. How does him challenging his boss about some unknown issue have any relevance to Miller failing to order his troops not to take a vax that he says he knew was part of a treasonous plot (before there was any mandate), or have any relevance to the fact that Miller admits he never brought up the illegality of the mandate to his superiors (even when he realized it was unlawful)? How was that Miller doing the harder, right thing?

It's simple. Brad once challenged his boss over some unknown issue. Good. But he failed massively later in a position of responsibility, and he is not a credible voice to now demand accountability of other failed military officers. A guy who said he would not publicly trounce the Army's position when he was a commander and who never once brought up the illegality of the mandate to his superiors, is not a credible voice for accountability. My goal was to get my wings and then to serve as a faithful public servant. My worldview was that better men from harder times had gifted us with an opportunity to live in an imperfect but great nation, and serving that nation (its ideals and its citizens above the government) was a fair trade for a paycheck and the greatest job I could conceive of. Flying military aircraft had always been a life-long dream of mine.

But I didn't realize how bad it would get. After 9/11 I was dismayed by the emotional, vitriolic, and irrational response from my countrymen. Not questioning motives, chest thumping, no introspection. Still, two days after that attack, I volunteered for the more aggressive version of our beloved airframe in the hope of getting justice and protecting guys on the ground.

I was deployed to AFG when we got the advanced word that we were going to pack up for Iraq. We hadn't even gotten OBL and it was clear the government was lying about Iraq, WMD, and it was then that I realized our military was controlled by bad actors for bad ends. That realization has become become even more undeniable as our nation now resembles the society of an Ayn Rand novel in its level of absurdity.

There will be no happy ending, no acceptable transition, and no throwing off the yoke. Not in our lifetimes and likely not ever. I'm just thankful I'm old, got to live free, made the choice not to snatch a soul out of the ether and thrust it into flesh to face this thresher, and I'm happy I can die knowing I did what I could to protect the gift greater men handed down to me. The sacrifices of the Founders, Dr. King, Malcolm and other great Americans required me to do my limited part to try to make our nation a more perfect union in my small way.

That's good enough. Anyway, thanks for the note. Much nicer than some of your other contributions in other venues. Clearly, the examples you mentioned would fail it. I’ve probably failed it multiple times myself. I guess I’m making a bit of a concession here, but I was late. Too late.

I often think of my life as a decision tree in a three dimensional space. Not just a tree, but a forest of trees. An inconceivable amount of nodes and branches, often running in parallel, crisscrossing, converging, diverging, but when viewed from afar, ultimately resulting in a specific direction. Your life could be viewed similarly. Perhaps you always had an innate ability to identify when the principles of the Constitution were being subtly and overtly violated, but why did you join an institution that was predisposed to the result we now see? Was there a turning point during your service where you realized your preconceptions were wrong? We may not have agreed, but I think the overall directions have led us to perhaps not the same branch, but ones in proximity. You made your series of decisions, I made mine, and here we are lamenting the state of things. What did it matter?

We’ve resigned that it’s too late. Birth, growth, maturation, decline, and death. All things. Inescapable. I’ve loved my country, my way of life, and the principles they were founded upon. History of full of eulogies and panegyrics from great men who loved their country that no longer exists. I’m prepared for the grieving process that will eventually come, but then I want to move on to the next thing and perhaps an opportunity to do things better than I did before. If I can survive the transition.

Later
Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8762223684746484243.post-24451477725918183602024-01-01T08:37:08.281-08:002024-01-01T08:37:08.281-08:00Hey, Rick. Seems like we're embarking on the most consequential year of our lives.

I often reflect on how I thought and felt when I joined. I was wholly inspired. I thought I was an integral part of a mechanism that was safeguarding the highest achievement in human history. I was unable to conceive that threats from the inside could be greater than those outside. I had chosen a path, invested near everything in it on the basis of trust, and the idea it could be corrupted would have been an impossible and insulting idea, had I even entertained it.

I once told the story of the DoD Undersecretary of Defense, and that’s when I first felt there may be something really wrong, but I still didn’t fully understand what, so I didn’t think about it. But the evidence began to accumulate, became intrusive and unavoidable. Again, I didn’t want to abandon my worldview, so I challenged all the alternates believing only the truth could hold up under scrutiny. One of my eventual mistakes was often confusing my desire to be right with the desire to find the truth, bad as it was.

I don’t remember when it was, but I began having some contrarian opinions and was soundly lambasted for them on the forum. I specifically remember arguing for the wikileaks issue, and vaguely remember it being a bit of a turning point. It was a delicate operation to try and challenge opinions and viewpoints without completely torpedoing your reputation and invalidating your future contributions, and I’ve never been successful at that. My mind was changing, and at some point I came to regret some of my previous posts and positions. At the same time, I was feeling an increasing contempt for the forum. I was an Admin, but I don’t specifically remember silencing or censoring anyone for their views, as I felt I could get more satisfaction from a battle of words. But I didn’t want to be an Admin anymore, so I gave mod privileges to a whole slew of folks I thought were right-minded, deleted all my individual posts, and then batch-deleted all the threads I had started, as I felt I owned them. I didn’t realize how many I had created and I inadvertently wiped out a large part of the forum. LOL. Oh well. I still engage, but I’m not invested in it. You’ve correctly identified the clowns: pawnman, nsplayer, and the others. I don’t care about them. I’ll occasionally engage with them because it allows me to make a point and direct my inflammatory language at a single person of no consequence, but knowing others are reading it without taking the personal affront is the idea.
Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8762223684746484243.post-23911697098555054762023-12-01T20:02:50.471-08:002023-12-01T20:02:50.471-08:00Q-1 no downgrades.Q-1 no downgrades.PickYourBattles.Nethttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16448529287854593110noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8762223684746484243.post-33333387362795403322023-12-01T18:07:37.499-08:002023-12-01T18:07:37.499-08:00A duck can fly?A duck can fly?Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8762223684746484243.post-22537824840672768662023-11-23T07:42:20.585-08:002023-11-23T07:42:20.585-08:00You know the difference between a duck and a nav, ...You know the difference between a duck and a nav, right?PickYourBattles.Nethttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16448529287854593110noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8762223684746484243.post-69876918759583408902023-11-13T17:42:09.724-08:002023-11-13T17:42:09.724-08:00Absolutely true.

At least the character, rare as it is today among our public "servants" in uniform and without, to do what you said you would do and what you're paid to do. It assumes that because it requires an oath in Article Six.

We're not talking about being better in order to avail oneself of its protections, we're talking about an armed government employee like Sua Stupidity having the character to provide that protection to those who pay him. In this case, an employee who is not interested in debating what the Constitution (that he swore to support and defend with truth faith and allegiance and without purpose of evasion) means because he has abdicated that responsibility entirely. Which makes just following orders so much easier to do.

I don't treat the Constitution like scripture. This is not some religious exercise in the slightest. I treat it like a contract I might have as a home builder. If I am paid to build a house, I will build the house as I am instructed and agreed to do, and not the way I'd rather it be built to save me some costs or to advance myself in some way. This isn't some religious thing, this is basic professionalism and basic integrity.

It is amazing the lengths you and yours will go to prop up your purposes of evasion to justify not doing your job as you swore to do. Abso..."Some of us are better than you."

Absolutely correct.

But the Constitution is silent on the matter of character. One needn't be better to avail himself of any of its protections, among them the right to debate what it means.

Don't treat it like scripture. When you do that, you damn it to the fate of scripture, which is to be assigned innumerable meanings, the divergences of which are employed to make us feel better about ourselves, but also as justification to kill others.
